SIPADAN ISLAND
The Sipadan Island is a famous dive spot in Sabah. It is formed by a deep-sea island. The under-water part of the island is shaped like a chimney reaching the sky from the seabed. There are over 3,000 varieties of fishes, and hundreds of types of corals in this area. It is also noted for number of green turtles and hawksbill turtles living here. Divers should not miss the sea caves here filled with colorful coral and special fishes. In the turtle caves in the northern Sipadan island, you can find a stock of silver hypostomus punctatus, the soldier fish and the flowfish.

TAWAU HILLS NATIONAL PARK
This is one of the two parks that you can find in this part of Sabah located approximately 24 KM from the town. The Tawau Hills National Park is perfect for nature lovers who want to learn more about the rainforest's flora and fauna, as well as witnessing the world's talent tropical trees. There are lots of popular hill if you are a fan of trekking, then you can cool down at the waterfalls nearby. You will be able to find chalets, camping sites and places to do picnics at Tawau Hills National Park while you do some bird watching.
DANUM VALLEY
The Danum Valley conservation area has always been an interest for scientists doing research on the ecology system of tropical rainforest. It support close to 300 species of birds (most of which are endemic to Borneo) and more than 100 species of mammals. While the African safari has its Big Five, Danum Valley is famous for sightings of extremely rare creatures such as Sumatran rhinos, clouded leopards, pygmy elephants, gibbons and if you are really lucky, the sun bear. While you're here, do not miss out on the night drive as it gives you a completely different feel of the rainforest after dark. Keep an eye out for the nocturnal creatures - giant flying squirrel, sambar deer, civets and leopard cat.
